Minneapolis, MN – Exavier Pope has been elected Treasurer of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) Sports Task Force.

NABJ is an national organization of African-American journalists, students, and media related professionals whose purpose is to provide quality programs and services to and advocate on behalf of black journalists worldwide.

NABJ has and continues to champion diversity in news organizations and campaign for fair news coverage of minorities.

The NABJ Sports Task Force is one of the most visible and active task forces with over 200 members including top name sports personalities. The task force “promotes diversity in America’s sports departments” and “provides programming toward developing the next wave of Americas sports journalists.”

Sports Task Force elections took place at the annual Sports Task Force meeting at NABJ’s 40th Annual Convention. NABJ’s Convention gathers journalists, students, educators and media-related professionals of color annually to attend career development workshops, network, and visit the annual career fair. NABJ’s career fair is where many of the top media organizations in the country send representatives to recruit and hire diverse talent.


Exavier will serve a two year term in role of Treasurer.
