Exavier is the principal owner of The Pope Law Firm, P.C., a premier Sports and Entertainment, Personal Injury, and Class Action law firm. Mr. Pope has counseled a former #1 pick overall in the NBA draft and an All-NBA defensive player. Mr. Pope’s clients have appeared, starred or written for programs on networks such as NBC, HBO, Showtime, VH-1, CBS, and Fusion TV.

 

Prior to starting his own law firm, Mr. Pope worked in Hollywood in the legal departments of leading entertaining companies such as Warner Music Group, Directors Guild of America, and Ford Model Management. Exavier also worked for top sports agents.

Mr. Pope obtained his Juris Doctor from Rutgers University School of Law. Prior to law school Mr. Pope worked managing investments and trades at Northern Trust Bank, Chicago Stock Exchange, as well as Merrill Lynch. Mr. Pope has a Bachelor of Science in Economics degree as well as a Bachelor of Science in Finance degree from the University of Illinois Chicago.

 

Mr. Pope has been recognized by Black and Entertainment Sports Lawyers Association as a “Top Attorney”; honored with Alumni Leadership Award from University of Illinois-Chicago’s College of Business Administration (UIC CBA Hall of Fame); and honored with a “Man of Excellence” Award by The Chicago Defender, the nation’s longest running African American news publication.

Mr. Pope is the Sports Law Chair of the Job Advisory Board of John Marshall Law School and the Treasurer of National Association of Black Journalist Sports Task Force. Exavier has  been profiled in top publications Forbes Magazine, Black Enterprise, Rolling Out, Uptown Magazine, & Chicago Daily Law Bulletin.

Mr. Pope is heavily involved in philanthropic endeavors. Mr. Pope serves as board member of First Star focusing on increasing 4-year university enrollment of former foster youth. Exavier serves on the board of Donda’s House, an arts education program started by superstar entertainer Kanye West and award winning songwrtier Che “Rhymefest” Smith. Mr. Pope also is founder of The Lily Pad, a non-profit organization which mentors and provides first class experiences for youth and young adults.

Exavier Pope was born on Chicago’s South Side, a baby in a brothel. His father was a pimp and his mother, one of his prostitutes. His mother was jailed when Exavier was six weeks old leading to Exavier living in a foster home for his formative years and being homeless at 14. Less than 3% of former foster youth attain a four-year college degree. Exavier has defied those odds and his life’s mission is to show the world anything is possible with belief.
