Lie and Buy has become the strategy to US politics, and the American public believes and purchases this new age form of democracy.

Everyone admits the system is broken but shuns a third party or anyone with new ideas. So, we go along with the status quo, collectively shifting allegiance to one party every other election, only to villainize that same party whether or not we are better off.

We allow media companies to overhype every soundbite and distraction from the real issues so they can show commercials to pad profits for corporate partners. Even among themselves, the media demonize one another and the politics they inherently support.

People who really have their communities at heart are marginalized due to lack of power and capital, until they get fed up and go for themselves and line their own pocketbooks, quit altogether, or fade into obscurity.

The system repeats itself, as the soul and conscious of a nation seeks personal convenience over personal governance. Televised talent contests cast more votes than actual elections, and the lines for the latest electronic gadgets become longer than the line to vote. Hashtags become more important than hashing out our differences. Common decency and common sense are eschewed for finger pointing on common problems.

Our spirit, our soul, our desire for the best expression of the collective American consciousness should run our country, not the disallusioned, the ill opportune and the unjust.

Let’s stand for something bigger, better, brighter, TOGETHER.

Let’s stand for each other, accept one another, and love each other no matter who we are: Rich, poor, young, old, LGBT, straight, black, white, Hispanic, Native American, Asian and Pacific Islander, Indian, Middle Eastern, Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Baha’i, Buddhist, Hindu, Mormon, atheist, agnostic, white collar, blue collar, employed, self employed, under employed, unemployed, mom, dad, son, daughter, niece, nephew, grandma, grandpa, uncle, aunt, husband, wife, omnivore, vegan, treehugger, fracker, Northerner, Southerner, East Coaster, West Coaster, educated, uneducated, abled, disabled, veteran, serviceman or woman, civilian, politician, constituent, liberal, moderate, independent, Conservative, tea party, Occupy Wall Street, farmer, business executive, teacher, student, me, you….US.

We have what it takes. Why? Because we are America.

And no challenge has ever been too big for America.
